We are building the one app people can chat, call, gather, pay, and trade in — without swapping tools, giving up their language, or handing over their money to a middleman.
Our mission
MOVO exists to connect the world across languages, currencies, and communities. The internet knocked down the geography barrier a generation ago; language, money, and belonging are the barriers that are still standing. We are here to take those down too.
A message translated the moment it arrives. A payment that clears in seconds across borders. A community that lets people who share an interest actually find each other. That is the day-to-day work.
What we are building
MOVO is one app that does the everyday things a smartphone should do — talk to friends, call family, join a community, pay someone, buy or sell something, and back a project you believe in. We built each of those inside a single account because keeping them separate is a tax on the user, not on us.
The product runs on our own infrastructure. Translation is served by a self-hosted engine so message text never leaves our stack. Payments and marketplace escrow are operated in-house. Crypto custody is on-device. The stack is the message: fewer intermediaries, fewer places your data can end up.
Our principles
Four commitments we hold to when we make product calls. If a decision breaks one of these, we do not ship it.
Open
We publish how the product works — how translation runs on our own engine, how custody works, what data we hold. If we cannot explain a design choice in plain language, it is a sign to reconsider it.
Fair
MOVO is one product for everyone. No dark patterns, no hidden fees, no algorithmic feed that keeps you scrolling against your interest. Fees are shown before you confirm; creators keep the majority of what they earn.
Secure
Security is a first-class constraint, not a marketing chapter. Sensitive data is encrypted at rest and in transit, payments require biometrics, and every user has an opt-in end-to-end encryption mode for chats.
Self-custody where possible
When the technology allows it, you should hold your own keys. MOVO's crypto wallet is self-custodied by default — the keys live on your device, and we cannot move your assets without you.
The team
MOVO is built by a small, distributed team spanning product, engineering, design, compliance, and support. We come from messaging, fintech, marketplaces, and community-software backgrounds — and we would rather ship a small honest thing than announce a big one.
